Having the certification is no easy task! To obtain the certification, you need to pass the UL508A exam, have mastery over the UL Product IQ, and understand the safety and quality requirements outlined in the standard. However, obtaining the certification is only the start of the journey, as it requires a commitment to continuous improvement. It is mandatory to stay up-to-date with the constantly changing Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards.
While the UL 508 Standard covers control panel devices used for any application that includes electrical motors, UL 508A is a subset that encompasses industrial control panels designed for general industrial applications.
As a UL 508A panel shop, we create, manufacture, and self-certify the UL 508A panels. Although a significant proportion of our clientele is based in the United States and Canada, our industrial control panels are in use globally and across multiple industries and countries, such as:

The UL 508 A certification also requires at least one on-site Manufacturer’s Technical Representative at one time. Becoming an MTR requires dedication to the successful completion of the MTR examination, which can only be taken after completing the training modules. Though the time commitment to attain MTR status varies by individual and skill level, it can take up to a year for an individual to complete the path. McIver Engineering & Controls proudly employs multiple MTRs to ensure accuracy and conformity to the standard.
